The first of its kind three-day long program came to an end last week. The first of its kind three-day long program came to an end last week. The awareness program and exhibition was attended by entities from the Ministry of Interior, Hamad Medical Corporation, Tarsheed and Qatar Biobank.

The Ministry of Interior was represented by the General Directorate of Traffic; the General Directorate of Civil Defense; the General Directorate of Industrial Security Department; the Establishments and Missions Security Department; the Public Relations Department; the Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs; the Security Systems Department, and the Community Policing Department. These departments presented lectures on traffic safety, civil defense, industrial, and public security, Qatar’s custom and tradition, drugs, security systems and community policing respectively.

Hamad Medical Corporation, meanwhile, represented by various specialized departments such as orthopedics, dental, ambulance and pharmacological departments, organized various demonstrations and presentations to spread awareness among the public. They also advised about leading a healthy life style. HMC blood donation center prepared well compartment fully equipped for blood donation on Wednesday and Thursday. The HMC blood donation booth conducted several health check-ups for the visitors. This was utilized by many of Qafco’s management, staff and their families who donated their blood.

Ms. Maryam Matter, Acting Public Relations and Communications Manager (QAFCO) said, "The health, safety and environment awareness program was part of Qafco’s social responsibility commitment and based on its deep conviction on the importance of health, safety for all and vital need to preserve the environment.” She also assured of QAFCO’s commitment to continue in adopting the associated health, safety practices and to protect the environment. Thanking the participants of the program Ms. Maryam Mattar said: “From here I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to those who participated in the program and accompanying exhibition and organized and provide those various awareness activities from the different departments of the Ministry of Interior, Hamad Medical Corporation, Tarsheed – Qatar General Electricity Corporation, and Qatar Bio Bank.”

The program witnessed huge turnout of around six thousand. During the event, many shows and exhibits related to security and safety were exhibited apart from the many guidance and educational brochures that were distributed to the visitors. Fire safety drills organized by the Civil Defense of MOI  was much appreciated by the audience. Apart from these,  the General Directorate of Traffic, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the General Directorate of Industrial Security Department, the Public Relations Department, the Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs,  Al-Fazaa Police  and the Community Policing Department organized awareness presentation to the audience.

Kahramaa ‘Tarsheed’ took part by organizing several awareness presentations and contests that educated the attendees about rationalizing the use of electricity and water consumption. Also they educated about the sustainability practices of the energy resources and how to preserve them to pass on to the future generations for a better world 

Meanwhile, Qatar bio-bank participated by presenting several awareness program and presentations that benefited the different audiences in particularly school students. The bio-bank representatives also organized several medical check-up and tests for the public and gave their recommendation.

The three-day event concluded with a dog show organized by the Criminal Evidences and Information Department of the Ministry of Interior. The show was very popular among families and  public in general. The show reflected the important role played by the sniffer dogs in crime detection, particularly with regard to drugs and explosives and identifying the criminals among the suspects using highly trained dogs.
